Phase 1 Clinical Trial of the ChAdOx1 Vaccine Target Against BDBV4
Researchers launched the world's first Phase 1 clinical trial evaluating the ChAdOx1 vaccine against Bundibugyo ebolavirus (BDBV) in response to ongoing outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. The study tests the safety, tolerability, and immune response of the viral vector platform vaccine across 50 healthy adults aged 18 to 55 years in Oxford. To accelerate testing, 4,000 investigational doses were supplied from a batch of 620,000 doses manufactured in two weeks. This program received 8.6 million US dollars in funding to support vaccine development and prepare for potential emergency use authorisation.
