Recent findings shed light on the long-standing debate about the health benefits of plant-based diets. An analysis of food supply and demographic data from 101 countries revealed that higher consumption of plant-based proteins like chickpeas and tofu is associated with longer adult life expectancies. Conversely, in children under 5, greater intake of animal-based proteins and fats supplies promotes early life survivorship6. These findings align with existing literature linking plant-based diets to reduced risks of diseases like cardiovascular conditions and dementia. Thus, incorporating more plant-based proteins into our diets may be beneficial.
