Improved knowledge on age-related changes in each anatomical layer of the face has facilitated the advancement in facial rejuvenation strategies, including the use of dermal fillers and botulinum toxin. While collagen is a key structural component of smooth, healthy-looking skin, the production of it decreases as age increases. In addition, factors such as exposure to sunlight, smoking and mental stress would also affect skin quality, result in the formation of wrinkles and folds of skin. To tackle with the age-related skin problems, an extensive range of dermal fillers have been developed aiming to improve skin conditions and appearance. Besides, botulinum toxin is commonly applied in aesthetic dermatology to treat facial wrinkles and fine lines. There are numerous research works for enhancing the effectiveness and safety of the science in aesthetic medicine.

On 21st and 28th November and 4th December 2021, a workshop program titled “Local Mentor Trainer Meeting 2021” sponsored by Galderma had been successfully organised. The program was a physical event involving both lectures and hand-on demonstrations as well as practical assessments for participants. During the lectures, the science of dermal fillers and recent development in botulinum toxin were presented, whereas the demonstration session covered topics such as facial assessments and practical injection skills.
