Liver cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death globally. The prognosis of liver cancers is usually poor, and predicting life expectancy for patients with the disease is difficult due to various factors including challenges in early and accurate diagnosis as well as complexity of surgical and pharmacological treatments. To highlight the recent development in liver cancer management, the 9th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Hong Kong Society of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, with the theme “Recent Advances in Liver Cancer: From Diagnosis to Treatment” was held on 27th February, 2021.
